In the spring, those that have wintered in the river move downstream to adapt to brackish water before heading to the depths of the Pacific Ocean. When it’s time to reproduce, an instinct drives them back to their birthplace, where they must spawn in their native waters. There, in a final act of creation, they release the next generation, Both male and female find their end after spawning, leaving the cycle to begin anew.
